The delightful unused vintage mother of pearl Schildkraut compact mirror and pill box set shown above are typical examples of this brand.

This slender stylish powder compact is suitable for use with all loose foundation, as a handbag mirror or cherished collectible.

The original powder puff is present, as is a wool felt pouch.

TYPICAL SCHILDKRAUT INTERIOR

This compact is fitted with the original felt powder well seal and so it does not need a sifter.

Many American made compacts of this era were fitted with felt powder well seals.

The little pill box is also suitable for storing small items of jewellery, for example, earrings.

366 FIFTH AVENUE NEW YORK 1 N.Y.

The Schildkraut Product Corporation was located at 366 Fifth Avenue, New York.

This company was well known for its luxurious accessories and ingenious designs.

We have included some of their patent drawings and complete specifications.

You may wonder how we attribute your accessories to this maker since they do not bear the maker’s stamp.

It was usual for many American makers to brand the pouches and presentation boxes rather than the compact cases. However, this brand can sometimes be found with the original Schildkraut mirror stickers.

We have seen this model of compact (same lid design) fitted with the instantly recognisable Schildkraut sticker.

The interior case of your compact mirror is typical for a Schildkraut vanity, although they did sell a wide variety of designs.
