Find out if this Polish pottery piece is the real deal.

Whenever I go thrifting, I always begin in the housewares aisle. Although this isn’t the section for designer clothing labels or flashy discount jewelry, I love the housewares aisle because there’s so much to investigate. Some folks might be less than thrilled about picking through shelf after jam-packed shelf of other people’s old plates and discarded home décor, but I’ve found that these crowded aisles are the best place for hidden treasure. You never know what amazing find could be hiding behind the discarded candleholders and sundry knickknacks. And, of course, the best way to sort through this mass of potential treasure is to shop with your WorthPoint app in hand.

On this particular thrifting mission, one piece in particular caught my eye. As soon as I saw its shape, colors, and design, I instantly wondered if this could be an authentic piece of Unikat Polish pottery. I already have a few Unikat pieces, and I hoped this would be another one to add to my growing collection. Even better, when I turned this piece upside down, I could definitely see that there was some kind of mark hidden beneath the price tag, which is always a positive sign. I decided that, for a few bucks, it was worth the opportunity to take this item home and do a side-by-side comparison with my other Unikat pieces (with the help of WorthPoint’s research tools, of course).
