ATLANTA, Georgia (November 9, 2023) – Lelands, a leading sports auctioneer, and WorthPoint, the world’s largest database for valuing antiques and collectibles, today announced the addition of the auction house’s 57,000-lot archive of auction prices realized. The partnership provides over 20 years of sales data spanning rare sports cards, autographs, game memorabilia, and pop culture collectibles.
“We are excited to work with WorthPoint to provide Lelands’ pricing history information to collectors,” said Michael Heffner, president of Lelands. “We are proud of our strong track record, and we’re happy to add to the database of results for WorthPoint subscribers’ access.”
Lelands carries the distinction of being the first sports auction house in the history of the hobby. Highlights include the $2.3 million sale of the contract that brought Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees; Ruth’s personally-owned 1927 Yankees World Series ring, which sold for over $2 million; and Sandy Koufax’s 1955 rookie jersey, which brought $667,000. The auctioneer holds sales across three formats and offers select items through its eBay storefront.
Lelands and WorthPoint are committed to setting standards for reporting reputable market pricing to meet customer needs, said Will Seippel, founder and CEO of WorthPoint. With the addition of Lelands’ results, WorthPoint is on track to provide the industry’s largest pricing source for sports memorabilia and related collectibles, revolutionizing how buyers and sellers interact in a free and open marketplace.
“WorthPoint and Lelands shared the goal to bring pricing transparency to buyers and sellers,” Seippel said. “The sports memorabilia category is one of the fastest-growing segments of the hobby, so our database must provide the most relevant and timely valuations from reputable sellers like Lelands.”
