Today’s Jewelry Collection Story comes from Natalie of Austra Jewelry. She is lucky enough to have been attending jewelry shows since she was young, thanks to her mother who instilled a love for jewelry. Today, she curates a collection of vintage and antique fine jewelry for her clients and exhibits at A Current Affair vintage pop-up market. Let’s learn more about Natalie and her personal jewelry collection:
“I have been collecting since I was a kid. I actually still have one of my first rings in my collection, which now only fits my pinky, but I still wear it on occasion! Clearly, my mom loves jewelry and imparted that love onto me. I had a lot of exposure to jewelry from an early age so it’s always been something I have been drawn to. I would say that my collection has changed a lot over the years as my preferences have shifted over time, but I have always been obsessed with rings and drawn to statement pieces. I am also not particularly sentimental either, so I have always been (and continue to be) quite willing to let go of pieces that no longer suit me to make room for pieces that best suit me in my current stage of life. I think one of the things that I’ve learned about myself along the way is that I really like to have pieces that I wear on repeat, creating a signature look that I reach for every day.”
“To me, jewelry is a really special way to deepen and enhance your personal style. I love that how we wear our jewelry is a reflection of our perspectives, experiences, important moments and memories and that all of this beauty comes in the form of precious gemstones and gold. I have to admit, I often look at stones and find myself in awe of how amazing our planet is.”
“My jewelry storage is neither exciting nor is it inspirational. To be honest, sometimes I’m not sure if it’s that practical either. I actually keep my pieces (outside of those I wear most frequently) in my safe deposit box at the bank. It requires advanced planning if I want to wear something outside my regular jewelry uniform, but I do like that my pieces are away and safe.”
“I wear my favorite stack on my ring finger of my left hand every day. It is comprised of three rings that I absolutely adore – both together and separately. The anchor piece is a ring that I recently started producing, called the Aura Ring. It is made to order in solid 18 karat gold in NYC and I am completely in love with the way it reflects the light and creates depth, dimension, and visual interest. The platinum and diamond eternity band is my wedding band which sits next to a vintage platinum five stone diamond band that I sourced. I love this look so much and I wear it every day, no matter the occasion!”
