With gold prices at an all-time high, now is the time to get serious about the type of accessories you’re buying. Gold-plated, tarnished cheap junk is not the look, and although it may be less expensive, it ends up being worthless in the end. Fine jewelry made of karat gold is an investment that will always be worth money as long as gold continues to be a valuable precious metal that has a role in financial markets.
Whether you’re starting from scratch or already have some fine jewelry, I’m glad you’re here! Creating a capsule wardrobe with jewelry is smart in so many ways – the point is to invest in quality pieces (not quantity), that can be worn in many ways, for many occasions and remain timeless. A capsule collection of jewelry does not need to be “basic” in any way, shape or form! They’re your BASIS which you can build off from and should never be pieces you don’t like. So let’s pick a capsule wardrobe you love!!
Here are my tips for building a fine jewelry capsule wardrobe:
1 – Make a list of each category of jewelry that you want to build essentials for: necklaces/chains, earrings, bracelets, rings, other (if there’s a category you don’t like or wear, don’t include it!)
2 – Break down each category by describing or finding photos of pieces that speak to you within each one. For example, earrings: what types of earrings do you like for yourself or your style? Hate hoops? Hate studs? Only like dangles? Write that down!
3 – Once you have your list, add 2-4 examples under each category. Again, examples like photos are really helpful. Choose pieces that are great quality, reputable brands, natural gemstones, karat gold.
4 – Then build your collection slowly, after figuring out which is the most important. You can rank your list so you know which pieces to buy in which order!
5 – Once you’ve built out your collection of essential staples, you can rotate seasonally or add pieces as trends change/sell ones you don’t wear anymore.
