KNOXVILLE, TENN. — A set of five 115-inch-tall French Belle Epoque carved giltwood room panels with Aesthetic Movement inspired oil paintings that had — for more than a century — been the focal point of Memphis, Tenn’s., Annesdale mansion, became the de facto focal point in Case Antiques & Auctions’ two-day Fall Fine Art & Antiques auction, October 6-7. Estimated at $18/22,000, the lot saw competition from three phone bidders and two online bidders; in the end, a phone bidder triumphed at $48,800, including buyer’s premium. The panels were among nearly a dozen lots with provenance to the Snowden family who built Annesdale. More of the sale highlights will be the subject of a forthcoming auction review.
