A stunning ring by the ‘Father of Modern jewellery’ Andrew Grima is expected to sell for thousands at an auction in Surrey.
The abstract ring by the celebrated designer looks set to be one of the highlights of Ewbank’s March 20 Jewellery, Watches and Coins Auction.
Grima, jeweller to royals and the jet set, pioneered organic and abstract designs in the post-war period, revolutionising the way that jewellery was perceived.
The doyen of 1960s British jewellery design, his star has been on the rise again in recent years and his pieces are now among the most sought after by collectors.
This ring, size J, set with a step cut tourmaline of around 2.86 carats, and two baguette cut diamonds, is mounted in an unmarked 18 carat gold textured mount, which is a signature style of Andrew Grima.
It comes with a Grima insurance valuation from 2019 signed by Francesca Grima, a designer herself and director of Grima jewellery Limited.
The ring carries a top estimate of £5,000 in the sale.
